PAIA manual
Last updated
Every private body in South Africa must publish a manual under the Promotion of Access to Information Act (PAIA), explaining what records it holds and how to ask for them. This is ours, in plain English.
1. About this manual
PAIA gives you the right to ask for records held by a private body when you need them to exercise or protect a right. This manual, required by section 51 of PAIA, sets out who we are, what we keep, and how to make a request.
2. Who we are
- Registered name: Digital Blast Media (Pty) Ltd
- Registration number: 2016/387590/07
- Location: Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa
- Website: digitalblastmedia.co.za
- Email: sales [at] digitalblastmedia dot co dot za
3. Information Officer
Revendran Pillay is our Information Officer, registered with the Information Regulator of South Africa under reference 2026-061664. Send requests and questions to sales [at] digitalblastmedia dot co dot za and mark them for the Information Officer.
4. The Regulator's guide
The Information Regulator publishes a guide explaining how to use PAIA. It is available free from the Regulator at inforegulator.org.za, or by contacting them directly.
5. Records we hold
We keep a small number of record types:
- Enquiries — messages sent through our contact form, and the correspondence that follows.
- Client records — proposals, agreements, project documentation, invoices and support history.
- Project material — source code, designs and technical documentation produced for clients, which the client owns.
- Company records — statutory, tax and accounting records we are required to keep.
- Supplier records — contracts and invoices from the service providers we use.
Some records are held under other laws — for example the Companies Act and the Tax Administration Act — and are kept for the periods those laws require.
6. Records available without a request
Our services, pricing, published writing and this manual are all freely available on this website. You never need to submit a PAIA request for anything already published here.
7. How to request a record
- Use the prescribed PAIA request form, available from the Information Regulator's website.
- Send it to our Information Officer at sales [at] digitalblastmedia dot co dot za, with enough detail for us to identify the record and to contact you.
- Tell us which right you are seeking to exercise or protect, and why the record is needed for it — PAIA requires this.
- We will respond within 30 days. That period may be extended in the circumstances PAIA allows, and we will tell you if it is.
Prescribed fees may apply, as set out in the PAIA regulations. We will tell you what is payable before we process a request. If we refuse a request we will give reasons, and you may appeal to a court or complain to the Information Regulator.
8. How we handle personal information
Our privacy notice explains what personal information we collect, why, who processes it on our behalf, how long we keep it, and your rights under POPIA.
9. Keeping this manual current
We review this manual at least once a year and whenever our details change. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
